Social media has continued to provide a growing avenue for beauty ideas and modeling, and it has played a huge part in getting rid of the stigma associated with plastic surgery.

More people are turning toward plastic surgery and cosmetic enhancement than ever before, and the age demographics of patients has expanded to include those in their early to late 20’s.

While the type of surgeries that are trending may change, the plastic surgery industry is growing in popularity every year.

Here is a list of plastic surgeries some experts believe might take over 2020.

1. Non-surgical Body Contouring

As technology continues to advance, there is an ability to address more body issues without surgery. Liposuction, a fat removal procedure, and the tummy tuck, an abdominal contouring surgery, have long been among the most popular procedures. These are highly effective in removing excess, stubborn fat, and improving contour.

While these surgeries are still popular—and the optimal way to remove excess fat or tighten loose skin, they are no longer your only choice when it comes to body contouring.

Plastic surgery trends may be moving away from these options in lieu of non-surgical procedures, such as CoolSculpting®. CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive procedure that uses a controlled cooling system to eliminate stubborn fat deposits. This procedure is painless, effective, and takes under an hour to complete.

2. Laser Treatments

Laser hair removal began to gain popularity in the late ‘90s as an alternative to wax and plucking treatments. In 2020, it seems likely that they will continue to grow in popularity. As lasers have gotten more advanced, they can provide more effective and permanent results.

Laser treatments have also expanded beyond hair removal. Laser treatments, like intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments, use light energy to penetrate and rejuvenate the skin. IPL can treat a range of skin issues from wrinkles to enlarged pores and acne scars.

3. Injectables

Injectables are not a new trend; instead, they have gained and maintained their popularity for quite some time. Injectables are one of the least invasive cosmetic treatments. They are known for being simple, effective, and relatively painless.

Injectables can be used for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
  • Plumping the lips
  • Minimizing acne scars
  • Adding volume to hollow areas

There are several brands of injectables, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and RADIESSE®. Injectables are neuromodulators (like BOTOX® Cosmetic) or fillers (like JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, and RADIESSE®).

4. Butt Augmentation

The impact that influencers have had on the butt augmentation trend can be easily seen. In recent years there has been a steady and high spike in demand for butt augmentation procedures.

Butt augmentation can be achieved in a couple of ways, but the most popular technique is the Brazilian Butt Lift. This procedure is beloved for its fat transfer technique, which removes excess fat from one part of the body and injects it into the butt.

The Brazilian Butt Lift offers flattering body contours, a reduction in unwanted fat, and, of course, a larger, rounder butt.

5. PRP Treatments

Platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) is growing in popularity for its ability to rejuvenate the skin. PRP facials gained popularity under the trending name “vampire facial,” and can sometimes provide similar results to a facelift. A PRP facelift uses a combination of dermal fillers and the patient’s own platelet-rich-plasma to:

  • Brighten complexion
  • Smooth lines
  • Reduce scarring
  • Reduce sagging
  • Add fullness to thinning skin
