What can I do about my flabby arms?

Model

In many cases, usually after significant weight loss, ones arms could be left with excess skin and fat that is un-proportional to the rest of their body. This loose upper arm skin has lost elasticity and will not shrink to the surrounding tissue. The only to remedy this situation will be to surgically remove the excess skin and fat and suturing the skin closed. This procedure is called a Brachioplasty and can also be coupled with liposuction to the arm.

An arm lift can vary depending on the severity of excess skin and your scar may range from your elbow to the side of your breast or localized in the armpit. The procedure may last between two to three hours in which time the doctor will remove excess skin and fat (with liposuction if viable) and suture the incision closed. Your arms will be placed in a compression garment to reduce the swelling and promote healing. You will be left with a permanent scar after the procedure, but your arm will be contoured.
