5 Minute Read:

Some of the most common cosmetic complaints men and women have revolve around the appearance of their faces.

Whether from age or lifestyle, many people develop wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin, and other facial blemishes. Because of the constant presence of these concerns, it is easy to see why facelift surgery was the third most performed cosmetic surgical procedure in 2020

For many aging concerns, such as significant sagging, jowls, vertical neck banding, and loose skin, facelift surgery is the optimal — and only — choice to achieve full facial rejuvenation.

But, what if your concerns are not at that stage yet?

Many patients who are looking for a more youthful, healthier facial appearance are just starting to see the signs of aging. They have fine lines and wrinkles; maybe they have developed a couple of age spots or sun damage. These patients are not looking for the surgical overhaul provided with a facelift. And some of their tone and texture concerns couldn’t be addressed with that facelift in the first place.

So, what is a good procedure for them?

One of the best options for men and women looking for improvement without surgery is the PRP facial.

What Is a PRP Facial?

While you may have heard of a “liquid facelift,” the PRP facial goes a step beyond to give you more youthful and rejuvenated facial skin that can have you smiling everywhere you go. A liquid facelift uses dermal fillers to achieve a transformed facial appearance, but the PRP facial includes PRP (platelet-rich plasma) to enhance your results.

For this non-surgical procedure, your provider will often inject dermal fillers into hollowed areas of your face. These dermal fillers include JUVÉDERM®, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC, and Restylane®, and they work to help correct wrinkles, fine lines, and volume loss in the face.

Next, blood is drawn from your arm and then processed to filter out the PRP. This PRP is then injected into strategic areas of your face to help regenerate damaged tissue. The injected PRP helps to stimulate collagen production (which is responsible for the health and strength of the skin).

Once this treatment is complete, you will be able to start enjoying your dynamic results.

Am I a Candidate for a PRP Facial?

Candidates for PRP facial treatments are men and women who suffer from age- and lifestyle-related concerns on the face (including wrinkles, fine lines, mild sagging skin, and complexion issues like texture concerns or acne scars).

Ideal candidates are non-smoking individuals, who are in good general health and have realistic expectations for their results.

If you think you may be a candidate for a PRP facial, then schedule your consultation and let one of our knowledgeable cosmetic specialists help determine if this treatment is right for you.

How Much Does a PRP Facial Cost?

Like any plastic surgery or cosmetic treatment, PRP facial cost varies with each patient and procedure. Many different factors can affect the cost, including the number of injections required, the size of the treatment area, and the extent of correction needed. At your consultation, you will be provided an accurate cost estimate.

Is a PRP Facial Worth It?

The PRP facial can help you look and feel younger than you have in years. You can expect to have a more youthful appearance that can improve your confidence. Because of these results, many patients have found that the PRP facial is definitely worth having.

How Long Does It Take to Recover From a PRP Facial?

One of the many positives of this treatment is that there is little to no downtime required. Most patients will be able to enjoy their normal, daily activities the next day, though some patients have reported redness and swelling in the treatment area for up to 72 hours.

How Long Does PRP Facial Last?

While the results from a PRP facial are not permanent, you can expect them to last a long time. Most patients report seeing their results last up to 18 months.

You can prolong your results by maintaining a healthy lifestyle (diet, exercise, good skincare routine, etc.).

Once the collagen production begins to slow down, you will need to undergo a maintenance PRP facial treatment to have continued results.

Does the PRP Facial Involve Microneedling?

While microneedling with PRP is a procedure available on the market, the PRP facial does not require microneedling. Instead, the dermal fillers will help to give you the complete facial rejuvenation that you are looking to have.

What Can I Expect From a PRP Facial?

Because a PRP facial affects the tone and quality of your skin, you can expect a smoother, more youthful facial appearance. Along with this physical rejuvenation, you can expect to have more confidence and comfort in the way you look.

If your skin blemishes have been holding you back from the activities you enjoy and the people you want to see, let cosmetic procedures like the PRP facial help.

What Other Non-surgical Options Are Available for Facial Rejuvenation?

Along with the PRP facial, at PREMIERE Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we are proud to offer Ultherapy® and Morpheus8™ to help rejuvenate your facial appearance.

The Ultherapy® treatment uses ultrasound waves to heat underlying tissue in various areas of the face, including the chin, neck, forehead, and around the mouth and eyes.

For this treatment, the handheld device is moved over the treatment area to allow the ultrasound waves to penetrate the skin. These ultrasound waves help to stimulate the production of collagen, which, in turn, allows the skin to be lifted, tightened, and toned.

Similarly, the Morpheus8™ treatment promotes the production of collagen in facial skin, though Morpheus8™ uses radiofrequency energy along with microneedling to do so.

For this treatment, microneedles are used to create micro-injuries to the skin. Radiofrequency (RF) energy is then applied to the damaged skin to help the body heal itself. The new skin is stronger, firmer, and smoother to help your entire facial appearance.
