What is the need for a compression garment after surgery?

Model

female model in a full body compression garment Having any type of cosmetic surgery is going to cause some post-operative discomfort and at times wearing a surgical garment can be very uncomfortable, but it is very important that you do wear it for the healing process and to also to make sure you get the results you paid for.

After a cosmetic surgery, or any surgery for that matter, your body will react to your incisions as if it were trauma. Your body will send signals regarding the “trauma” and your natural defense is to swell. The compression garments keep the swelling to a minimum and helps relieve some pain and bruising.

The garment must be worn at all times immediately following the surgery. It will help minimize excessive swelling, reduce bruising as well as the development of seromas and fluid. Not wearing the garment may lead to undesirable results after a cosmetic such as a tummy tuck or liposuction procedure.

At PREMIERE Center Tampa and PREMIERE Center Miami your surgical garment is included in your quote so there is no need to shop around for the right garment. Be sure to contact us to schedule your complimentary consultation with our board certified plastic surgeons!
