What Does a Facelift Do?

Model

Premiercenter Facelift PatientSigns of aging are very obvious on your face and most often the first thing people notice about you. Your delicate facial skin makes these imperfections more obvious. Fine lines, wrinkles, or sagging skin around your face and neck are all normal effects of aging, and they can often make you feel self-conscious about your appearance. However, if you want to diminish lines and wrinkles, facelift surgery can be an effective way to restore a youthful appearance.

What Can It Address?

Loose Skin

During the procedure, your surgeon will sculpt the underlying tissue and muscles to enhance your natural facial structure. The skin is pulled naturally to eliminate sagging and will look taut, smooth, vibrant, and more youthful.

Wrinkles and Lines

As your surgeon is repositioning your skin over the newly defined contours of your face, the lower face and neck are being pulled tight so that your wrinkles and lines disappear. The lines that were previously on your face will no longer be present.

Sagging Neck

It’s common to see the skin on your lower face and neck begin to sag. If you’re concerned about how much older you look with sagging under your chin, a second incision can be placed during your procedure. Your surgeon will pull the skin up toward your chin, tightening, repositioning, and smoothing it. Your neck will look slender, long, and more youthful.

Facelift Options

Traditional Facelift

This procedure is more in depth and will be considered if you have extensive wrinkles or sagging. Incisions are made at the hairline and will continue around the ears. A second incision may be necessary if you wish to address any sagging skin on your neck.

Limited Incision Facelift

This procedure is less invasive than full, traditional facelift surgery, and the results are also less dramatic. However, this type of facelift is effective for patients who have less skin laxity and those who do not need to address multiple concerns during the procedure.

Regardless of what type of facelift is best for you, results will be apparent after the first few weeks once the swelling and bruising subside. Your face will be more youthful and vibrant, and you can have confidence in knowing that you look years younger than you are!
