Is there a possibility of fluid build up after drains are removed from a tummy tuck?

Model

Yes, this is a possibility even after your drains are removed. This is recognizable complication after drain removal and usually resolves on its own in a matter of three to four weeks. However, this is not a cause for concern unless the fluid build is painful; in which case you would need to contact your surgeon for an appointment. The fluid will continue to recur until the body is  ready to absorb the it. Continuing to wear your post surgical garmet will help reduce swelling and promote healing after you drains are removed. After a procedure such as a tummy tuck your body creates a lot of fluid that is expelled through the drains in the first couple of weeks post surgery. After the drains are removed the body continues to develop some fluid build up that is eventually absorbed into the body with the help of a compression garment. Also keep in mind that the swelling after a tummy tuck may not completely go away for up to a year after surgery. At PREMIERE Center for Cosmetic Surgery in both Tampa and Miami all patients receive a surgical garment, the price of which is included in your final quote!
