A facelift, also called rhytidectomy, is one of the most common cosmetic procedures available today. Women and men alike opt to have this procedure to rid their faces of sagging facial skin, deep creases, jowls, loose skin around their neck, wrinkles and fatty deposits.

There are a variety of different types of face lifts that can be performed ranging from Brow Lifts and Mini Lifts to a Full Facelift. The procedure that you choose to have will be dependent on the results you want to achieve your surgeon’s recommendation. At PREMIERE Center Tampa and PREMIERE Center Miami our board certified plastic surgeons perform all of the aforementioned procedures and then some.

A full facelift begins with an incision that starts above the hairline at the temple and then courses down to follow the natural line in front of the ear and around the earlobe, finally ending in the hairline behind the ear.

Your surgeon will separate the skin from the underlying muscles and pull the skin back. He or she will then trim and tighten the underlying muscle, secure the layers of tissue and then re-drape the skin. The incisions are strategically hidden in the hairline and natural creases of the face, so they become almost invisible over time.

The longevity of any face lifting procedure is influenced by multiple factors beyond the type of facelift performed and the skill and expertise of the plastic surgeon. The extent of tissue elasticity and sagging, genetics, amount of sun damage, life style (smoking, significant weight fluctuations, excess dieting or exercise), general medical health and other adjunctive procedures (like fillers, Botox, skin peels, etc.) performed in conjunction with the facelift will also determine the ultimate result and longevity of your facelift.
