Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift)
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Tampa, FL

One of the first places to show visible signs of aging is the eyes. (1) Unfortunately, they are also one of your most telling facial features. They convey emotion, and they are often the first representation of you and your personality. To address these changes, our surgical team can perform an eyelid lift.
An eyelid lift restores a more youthful-looking appearance in the upper and lower eyelids. This procedure consists of tightening weakened muscles and eliminating excess skin and tissue from above and below the eyelids. This restores smoother, more youthful contours while also refreshing your overall facial aesthetics.
The PREMIERE Center for Cosmetic Surgery is one of Tampa’s leading aesthetic practices. Each of our board-certified plastic surgeons offers at least 10 years of experience in medicine with training in all aspects of facial rejuvenation, breast enhancement, and body sculpting. No matter how subtle or significant your goals are, our team can help you achieve them.
If you are ready to start working with our surgical team, please schedule a consultation online or call our Tampa office at (813) 400-1465.

About Eyelid Lift
An eyelid lift, or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure that will restore a more youthful-looking appearance to the eyelids. Our surgeons can perform this procedure on either the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both to address excess skin, descending fat, and more. Eyelid lifts primarily address changes stemming from the natural effects of aging. (2) Eyelid lifts are one of the most widely performed cosmetic surgical procedures in the country, reaching more than 120,000 procedures in 2024 alone. (3)
Types of Eyelid Lifts
At PREMIERE Center for Cosmetic Surgery, our surgical team can perform several different types of eyelid lifts to address a wide variety of concerns. Your surgeon may perform these procedures as standalone treatments or combine them to address concerns above and below your eyes.
- Upper Eyelid Lift: An upper eyelid lift addresses sagging skin and fat around the upper eyelids. Hanging skin in this area can not only create an angered or tired appearance, but may even obstruct parts of your vision.
- Lower Eyelid Lift: Lower eyelid lifts improve the appearance of eyelid bags, hanging skin, and under-eye puffiness found beneath the eyes. This procedure can also address certain signs of aging, such as crow’s feet or wrinkles.

During your personal consultation, your surgeon will evaluate your facial anatomy and skin quality to determine whether an upper eyelid lift, lower eyelid lift, or combination lift is right for you.
Benefits
Eyelid lifts offer several notable benefits, including:
- Reduced Signs of Aging: Eyelid lifts can address wrinkles, fine lines, and creases around the upper and lower eye areas.
- Refreshed Aesthetics: This procedure can help you appear more rejuvenated and well-rested in your day-to-day life.
- Lasting Results: The results of an eyelid lift are long-lasting, with patients experiencing effects that last for several years.
- Elevated Confidence: Many patients experience improvements in their self-esteem and body confidence after seeing their revitalized appearance.
- Natural-Looking Enhancements: Our surgical team modifies each surgical plan to ensure the results of your procedure suit your natural facial structure.
Candidates
Candidates for an eyelid lift include anyone experiencing hanging, sagging, or drooping eyelid skin around their upper or lower eyelids. This procedure can effectively address puffiness or bulging, as well as minimize visible signs of aging. Those seeking to alleviate irritation from chafing eyelid skin or correct impairments in their peripheral vision may also make suitable candidates.
Anyone interested in an eyelid lift should be in good general health and maintain realistic expectations regarding their results. Patients should ideally be nonsmokers or willing to quit using nicotine entirely. Your surgeon will finalize your candidacy during your personal consultation.
Personal Consultation

The first step to rejuvenating your appearance is attending a personal consultation at our office in Tampa. During this consultation, your surgeon will meet with you individually to get to know you on a more personal level. They will ask you about your medical history, current prescriptions, concerns, and goals. They will also perform a physical examination to assess the condition and quality of your eyelids, as well as your overall facial proportions.
Your surgeon will use this information to confirm your candidacy and help you create a tailored surgical plan. They will recommend the most effective surgical strategies and techniques, and they may suggest additional procedures that could enhance your goals. Throughout the consultation, they will also address any questions or concerns you may have about eyelid lifts or facial rejuvenation in general.

Preparation
Once you schedule your procedure, you will receive a set of detailed pre-operative instructions to help you prepare. These instructions may vary depending on the details of your surgical plan, but they generally include:
- Discontinuing the use of nicotine and tobacco products several weeks before your procedure.
- Stopping the use of blood-thinning medications and supplements.
- Pre-arranging transportation home from your procedure.
- Taking time away from your career and other commitments.
- Ceasing any alcohol consumption several days before your appointment.
- Filling any necessary prescriptions beforehand.
By following each instruction, you can facilitate a successful and smooth eyelid lift procedure.
Procedure

Eyelid lifts are outpatient procedures and take approximately one to two hours to perform. Regardless of the type of eyelid lift you undergo, your procedure will begin with the cleansing of your skin before you receive anesthesia.
Upper Eyelid Lift
Your surgeon will begin your procedure by placing an incision along the natural crease of your upper eyelid. (4) They will carefully remove excess skin, tissue, and fat deposits from around the upper eyelids, leaving them smoother and tighter. This approach can address impaired vision from hanging eyelid skin.
Lower Eyelid Lift
Your surgeon may perform a lower eyelid lift by placing an incision just beneath the lash line or within the lower eyelid to remove excess skin and fat deposits. After removing this, they will reposition and/or tighten the remaining skin and tissue. This approach best addresses under-eye bags, puffiness, and sagging skin. Your surgeon may also alter certain aspects of your lower eyelid lift to address the appearance of crow’s feet.
Recovery
After an eyelid lift, you may experience some swelling or bruising around the treated areas. These effects are temporary and will gradually subside on their own, but you can also manage them with plenty of rest or a cold compress. During this time, you may need to modify your skincare routine and refrain from wearing makeup to avoid irritating the treatment area.
You may return to your career and other light activities after resting for approximately one to two weeks. However, you will need to avoid engaging in any strenuous or high-impact activities until you achieve full recovery.
Your surgeon will provide a full set of post-operative instructions to help guide you as you heal. These instructions will help you navigate any activity restrictions and help you maintain healthy habits when recovering.
Results

You may notice improvements in your appearance shortly after your procedure, but the refined results of your eyelid lift will appear after any residual swelling dissipates. You will be able to enjoy a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance with tighter facial skin. You may also notice a widened field of vision after eliminating any hanging skin and tissue.
The results of an eyelid lift are long-lasting, with many patients experiencing effects that last for several years. It is important to note, however, that the natural effects of aging will continue to affect your appearance over time.
Corresponding Procedures
There are several procedures that can pair with your eyelid lift, one of which is a brow lift. A brow lift elevates the position of your eyebrows, restoring a more youthful look while addressing visible signs of aging throughout your forehead. This procedure is highly effective for addressing deep wrinkles, crow’s feet, or even sagging skin in the upper eyelids. Alongside your eyelid lift, you can achieve deeper facial rejuvenation and restore balance to your face.

FAQ
Can an eyelid lift address both my upper and lower eyelids?
Yes. You can address concerns across your upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both eyelids, within one procedure.
Can an eyelid lift change the shape of my eyes?
An eyelid lift primarily enhances the natural appearance of your eyes, not reshape them. During your procedure, your surgeon will use careful techniques to preserve the pre-existing contours of your eyelids.
Will I be able to wear makeup after my eyelid lift?
We do not recommend wearing any makeup until your eyelids fully heal. Your surgeon will provide a set of post-operative guidelines that will help you navigate when you can reintroduce certain cosmetics into your routine.
When will I see the results of my blepharoplasty?
You will be able to enjoy the initial results of your eyelid lift several weeks after your procedure. However, the refined results of your eyelid lift may take several months to manifest.
Can I combine my eyelid lift with another cosmetic procedure?
Yes, you may choose to pair your procedure with another for further rejuvenation. To learn more about the other procedures you may be qualified for, please schedule a consultation online.
