Microdermabrasion (often referred to as Microderm)

Is a family of cosmetic procedures in which the dead outermost surface of the skin is partially or completely removed by light abrasion, to remove sun-damaged skin and to remove or lessen scars and dark spots on the skin.

The procedure is not very painful and requires no anaesthetic. Microdermabrasion can be used medically for scar removal when the scar is raised above the surrounding skin, but is less effective with sunken scars. There is very little, if any, evidence that microdermabrasion stimulates collagen formation. Microdermabrasion can also be used for treatment of acne, but must be repeated periodically to be effective. Microdermabrasion should not be used on patients who have taken the medication Accutane in the previous twelve months.

Different methods include mechanical abrasion from jets of zinc oxide or aluminum oxide crystals, fine organic particles, or a roughened surface. Particles are removed with a wand/handpiece through which the abrasive particles come



Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal offers the most effective solution for getting rid of unwanted hair. We use state-of-the-art laser systems specially designed to remove hair faster, with less discomfort and more reliably than other methods.

During treatment, a laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The light is then absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles. During the procedure, the laser pulses for a fraction of a second, long enough to heat up the hair and significantly impede the follicle's ability to regrow.

The length of a laser hair removal treatment may last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more, depending on the size of the area being treated. Most patients report little or no discomfort. But, because some areas of the body are more sensitive than others the procedure can cause discomfort. For more sensitive patients, anesthetic creams can be applied prior to treatment.

The appearance of the treated area immediately following treatment will vary from patient to patient. Side effects, if any, are minor. They may include redness and swelling around the hair follicle, which are, in fact, desired clinical results and indicate that the follicle has responded to treatment. Most people return to normal activity right away.



Botox®

Botox®, which is derived from botulism-causing bacteria, has been used for years in the treatment of strabismus, also known as lazy eye. Premiere Center uses controlled doses to deactivate muscles that cause deep frown lines, most often between the eyebrows. When these muscles are no longer active, the vertical frown lines between the brows and horizontal forehead lines that these muscles produce virtually disappear. As a result of these treatments, many patients gain a smooth, relaxed-appearing, wrinkle-free brow.
