Procedure
Botox
Botox, which is derived from botulism-causing bacteria, has been used for years in the treatment of strabismus, also known as lazy eye. Today, Premiere Center doctors also use it in small, controlled doses to deactivate muscles that cause deep frown lines, most often between the eyebrows. When these muscles are no longer active, the vertical frown lines between the brows and horizontal forehead lines that these muscles produce virtually disappear. As a result of these treatments, many patients gain a smooth, relaxed-appearing, wrinkle-free brow.
According to Premiere Center physicians, an initial Botox treatment lasts about five months. As the muscles become weaker from lack of use, some patients find subsequent treatments last longer.
Patients can generally go back to activities immediately following the non-surgical, in-office procedure. Premiere Center physicians say that Botox has other applications in cosmetic surgery as well. Used in combination with laser skin resurfacing, Botox may prolong results, especially those around the eyes. The treatment can also improve neck banding (the visible bands around the necks of some men and women).
Collagen
Collagen fillers can offer immediate improvement of thin lips, deep lines or surface wrinkles, with no need for recovery. Zyderm collagen is the first bio-implant approved by the FDA that can safely improve some types of facial expression lines and scars. The injections are ideal for patients who have the kind of lines that disappear when the skin is spread apart, such as nasolabial lines (which run from the nose to the mouth), smokers' lines (around the lips), crows' feet (around the eyes) and marionette lines (at the corners of the mouth).
Please note: Every patient is different and there are risks associated with non-surgical procedures, as well as surgical procedures.
